It was 11 p.m. on a Monday night and I nearly drove off the road with what John had just said. As a volunteer for our local Campus Life, I had joined 40 high schoolers at a showing of The Passion of the Christ. Following the movie, we met with the kids at a local restaurant to debrief what they had just witnessed. The discussion was amazing! After filling up on fries and pop, kids began to head home. But John wasn't ready to go. It all makes sense now. All that stuff you've been saying at Campus Life about why Jesus died
I get it now. Twenty minutes later John gave his life to Christ.. . . A few months back John handled every argument with his fists. You should see the changes happening in his life now! He and a buddy, Dan (who recently gave his life to Christ) meet weekly with me for a Bible study and really open up. The other day they told me how God is helping them deal with anger, sexual temptation, bad language, and listening to their parents
all in a five minute drive to McDonalds! When we say the vision of Youth for Christ is to have a noticeable spiritual impact on our community by engaging young people in the life-long journey of following Jesus Christ that boils down to life change over the long haul. John and Dan are taking the first steps in the journey. I can't think of a more exciting time new hearts in young lives, families restored, and kids wrestling with the truth found in Jesus Christ. In John's words , You know, when you said God would give me a new heart
I really think it happened. I want to learn how to love my family, but I know it's gonna be hard. |
